We are not becoming a sales based site…

…just wanted to reassure you that the goals of bumphlegm have not changed – we still strive to hold up a broken mirror to all that is (including ourselves)… The increase in buy this, buy that links for products and in the front page at the moment is because over the years (5 of them now – crikey) we have had a large number of requests for certain posts we have created to be made available as stickers, t-shirts etc and well, as this site costs us money we figured why the hell not. If we can cover the price of our servers (or even just domain name registrations) each year we think that would be a nice thing. We are not selling anything that isn’t a bumphlegm original creation here – we have avoided putting google ads or black label ads etcetera on the site on purpose – we want what we do (essentially we see it as art – you may have a different opinion) to remain untainted and your visit here to be a little sanctuary away from all the annoying viral like marketing that exists on the internet these days. Cripes – you can tell I am being serious when I call the internet the internet. As one may have noticed we are musicians as well as visual artists and have always believed that music is something one does for pleasure, not profit. Selling music and art is a grey area in my mind. I am not sure how I feel about it. I guess, if you enjoy what we do, be it musically or visually, then if you have the money support us by buying something you like from our site. You can then enjoy the fact that you own something unique, that isn’t produced en masse and in the case of the music you are supporting us by way of providing us with more time to put towards these pursuits than what we do to earn the dollars that buy us the majority of our limited freedom. Much to the annoyance of my friends, I firmly believe that if we lived in an anarcho based system the artists would still have to be ploughing the fields just as much as anyone else. Getting back to the sales stuff as soon as we integrate the shop properly, other than a discreet link at the bottom of posts if the item can be bought, the only way to be bombarded by our products is to choose to click on the Merchandise / Shop page. Anyway, ramble is now over. Oh and for all you who follow the Gregorian calendar – happy fucking new year.
